We live in a confused generation where majority of the populace  does not know what Truth or Love is.  Ask the average Ghanaian what love is as I have done on a number of occasions and you’ll get answers such as, ‘it’s a deep, intense feeling of affection for someone’ or ‘it’s an intense liking of someone’. These are all porous definitions. Ask a religious person and they’ll say God is love. Many times, this is not said as a heart knowing reality but as a religious regurgitation of phrases that has been pushed down the throat of one’s mind as they went to Sunday school. But such head knowledge will not suffice in making one a true God success in the times that are upon us. Indeed such head knowledge has never made any person in history a success. The WORD which has been sown in the mind must be transplanted in the soils of the heart and continuously watered by the rain of the Spirit so that Truth may germinate.

Truth is Love. How did I come by this? As we have already discussed, Jesus prayed to his father:

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word (logos) is truth.—Joh 17:17 KJV

Jesus points out that, the Word is Truth. He does this again in John 14:6 when He calls Himself the Truth. And in John 1:1 we realized that the Word (which is truth) is God.  So,

…The Word is Truth

…The Word is God

…Jesus is the Word made flesh (John 1:14)

…Jesus is the Father because Jesus and the Father are ONE (John 10:30)

Jesus said, If you have seen me you have seen the Father (John 14:7&9)

But the Father who is God is Love.

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.1Jn 4:8 KJV

If Love is God and the Word which is Truth is God, then the Word is Love hence Truth is Love.

Truth does not possess the attribute of Love. No! Truth is in Himself Love. That is why there is no such thing as half truths because there is no such thing as half Love.

Now that we have established that God is Love and hence His Word and Truth is also Love. What then is love? That will be the subject of the next post.
