(Isa 45:7)  I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

Some look at the scripture and ask, this mean God created evil to destroy humanity? If not, why then did he create evil? The answer is found in the following verse.

This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and deathblessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live —Deuteronomy 30:19

Imagine a world where humanity had no choices but was forced to live in one way i.e. the way of God. Such a world is a world without liberty. To have liberty man must be free to make a choice.

True love allows choices. In the case of humanity, a man who is interested in a lady does not command or force love from her. No, she must choose him among all the other eligible men. This brings honour to the man. God our husband (Isa 54:5, Eph 5) does not force us to choose him or his righteousness. Rather He desires to be chosen by us so He provides us with both life and death, blessings and curses i.e. evil and
He encourages us to choose life (Deu 30:19). This freedom of will to choose is His love to us.

If He does not give us the option to choose between the two, then he is practically forcing Himself or His way on us and He will not do this because He is love and love does not force itself upon anyone. That is why Adam and Eve were also given the choice between the two trees–one that gave life and the other that gave death. The choice is ours.
