Lithuania High Resolution Excellence Concept

(Isa 60:1)
Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.

This is a very pregnant verse but for today we will only consider a very little portion of its meaning—that which pertains to excellence.

This verse was written to tell the people of God to arise from the dusts of mediocrity and begin to take their rightful place and inheritance in God which included shining with divine excellence. This shining is made possible because of the rising of the Glory of God or God’s Glory on his people.

QUESTION: What then is the Glory of God?

The original Hebrew word the prophet uses in Isaiah 60:1 for glory is a very pregnant word and if we understood what it meant, we would never be defeated another day in our lives. The hebrew word used by the prophet is  כּבד    כּבוד and it is transliterated as kâbôd kâbôd. What does kâbôd  kâbôd mean? When you say Glory, what do you mean? kâbôd  kâbôd is defined as excellence so the glory of God is the excellence of God himself. This is what is risen upon us. kâbôd  kâbôd also means God’s weight, glory, honour, gloriousness, abundance, riches, splendour, dignity, reputation, reverence, etc.

Why is it important that God’s kâbôd kâbôd has risen upon us?

To have the glory of God risen upon you is to be crowned with God’s glory. Secondly, it is to be overshadowed with God’s glory and we can only exhibit and transmit what overshadows us. Peter’s shadow could heal the sick because he himself was overshadowed with the glory of God. He dwelt in the secret place of the Most High under the shadow of His wings.

Meaning of Is 60:1 to the believer

Is 60:1 means the excellence or weight of our Lord himself is already upon his people for it says …for your light has come and the glory of God is risen upon you. This is past tense and it means no child of God has an excuse to be mediocre. That is why the next verses explain that Kings and Queens will come to the brightness of our rising or to our prominence. Why would they come? Because they will see the excellence, splendour, glory, dignity, reverence, honour etc of the Lord upon us. This is our portion in Jesus. We must know, believe and walk in this truth because it is a done deal. And remember:

(Pro 4:18) But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Each and every day we should exhibit more and more of this glory and excellence of the Lord—His weightiness. Our light should be brighter today that it was yesterday. For our path is progressive, shinning brighter and brighter unto the perfect day i.e. the season of the fullness of light and excellence. Dearly Beloved, let’s Arise and Shine!
