Psa 8:6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet

Purpose

The purpose of a thing has its foundation in the mind of its creator. Only a potter know the true purpose or function of something she or he has created or molded. It’s the same with humans. Our ultimate purpose or the reason for our being is determined by the one who created us. He has a particular purpose in mind when he created us. What was it?

Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion

Mankind or man was created to manifest the dominion of GOD over God’s creation. Adam’s job description was to tend and guard and keep the Garden of Eden (Gen 2:15) through the exercise of dominion. How do you guard or tend anything without dominion? Practically speaking how did Adam express dominion? One answer is by naming all that GOD brought to him.

Gen 2:19 And out of the ground the Lord God formed every [wild] beast and living creature of the field and every bird of the air and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them; and whatever Adam called every living creature, that was its name.

Via words Adam exercised dominion by naming.

Road map of dominion

Practically speaking, God laid out a pattern for arriving at dominion. We find it in:

Gen 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

The road to dominion begins with being fruitful, multiplying the fruit via the seeds in the initial fruit(s). The multiplication causes a replenishing of the earth leading to covering of more ground hence subjugation or taming of the wild earth. The expansion or multiplication leads to dominion.

Dominion and Words

Question: What is the seed that brings about initial fruit or multiplication? Let’s let scripture answer that question.

Mar 4:3
Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:

Mar 4:14
The sower soweth the word.

1Pe 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

What then is the seed? The seed is the word. Words are seeds in the spiritual world. The words we speak are either spirit or life i.e. full of God’s dominion or they are spirit and death i.e. filled with killing and destruction (John 10:10).

GOD’s word i.e. the Rhema is full of the power of accomplishment. We exercise dominion by speaking GOD’s word concerning any situation. For instance… let the weak say, I am strong (Joe 3:10). When sickness attacks our body, we should confess or release GOD’s dominion over our bodies by agreeing with His report that says, “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole (Isa 53:5). This word will overcome any other word of sickness and germinate health for us. In actuality it will simply act as a key and unlock GOD’s dominion within us and the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead will be activated to quicken our mortal bodies (Rom 8:10-11).

Words are very important. That is why “…by your words you will be justified and acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned and sentenced (Mat 12:37).

When mankind fell in the garden, they died spirituality hence their words also died or became corrupted.

Multiplication of Dominion

Each person has dominion and when we agree with each other on a matter what we do is we multiply that dominion.

Deu 32:30 How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?

Agreement in spirit multiplies dominion. This is true on the side of light and the side of darkness and thus with this understanding we can understand the magnitude of what darkness attempted to accomplish through humanity in Gen 11.

Gen 11:1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech (4) And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. (5) And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. (6) And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. (7) Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.

This was the origin of diverse languages. Because of the blessing GOD gave man in Gen 1:28 and its manifestation through words, GOD acknowledged that as long as humanity was ONE in language, speech and mind, whatever they imagined to do would be accomplished? So the solution was to scatter them by dividing their tongues.

Antithesis of Babel

What was the antithesis of the previous story? It was the day of Pentecost i.e. the time of jubilee when GOD lifted evey curse of slavery. At Babel humanity brought upon itself the curse of division. On the day of Pentecost Grace restored to man the ability to be ONE in language, speech and mind. How was this accomplished?

Act 2:1-4 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. (2) And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. (3) And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. (4) And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

This was the restoration of what Adam and humanity of old lost i.e. the rebirth of the human spirit and re-arming of it with dominion in the form of the voice of GOD and the language of GOD. Notice the Holy Ghost manifested in the form of cloven tongues of fire. That was to show that he came to give us new tongues that speak words orchestrated by GOD that will release a new level of life or fruitfulness, multiplication, replenishing of the earth, subduing all that is contrary to GOD and alas manifesting dominion. The importance of using this heavenly gift of speaking mysteries to GOD cannot be overstated. It is a language available to all humanity if we will only accept the redemptive and justificatory work of Calvary and the resurrection. It is the way to unleash the rivers of living water planted in our bellies awaiting release to cause positive changes on earth. No wonder Paul says:

1Co 14:18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:

When HG came, he manifested as tongues of fire. He is the unifier. That baptism of fire unified GOD’s church and drove out fear from their midst. HG is a talking spirit. Our words are the agency of dominion. It’s the main tool for our fulfilling our commission. Why flaming tongues? Because God is a consuming fire and his words are likewise fire and fire stands for a purifying agent. The baptism of the HG brought us new tongues and new words with which to fulfill our commission.

Dominion in action

Let’s have an example of how words are full of power and cause changes. Jesus healed with words. Peter did the same. His words became a conduit through which GOD baptised the first gentiles with the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ.

Act 10:22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

Act 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

The greatest miracle is to be re-born or born again and how does that take place? Through confessing Christ and believing him.

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Below are some scriptures about who a born again child of God is. They are part of the body of Christ while Jesus is the head of Christ. So who is Christ? It’s Jesus and His body. Christ is simply a term which means the anointed one. As Jesus and His father are one so we and Jesus are one. His body is his fullness (Eph1:23).

Psa 8:6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

1Co 15:27 For He [the Father] has put all things in subjection under His [Christ’s] feet. But when it says, All things are put in subjection [under Him], it is evident that He [Himself] is excepted Who does the subjecting of all things to Him. [Ps. 8:6.]

Eph 1:22-23 And He has put all things under His feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout the church], [Ps. 8:6.] (23) Which is His body, the fullness of Him Who fills all in all [for in that body lives the full measure of Him Who makes everything complete, and Who fills everything everywhere with Himself].

Heb 2:6-8 It has been solemnly and earnestly said in a certain place, What is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You graciously and helpfully care for and visit and look after him?
(7) For some little time You have ranked him lower than and inferior to the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor and set him over the works of Your hands, [Ps. 8:4-6.] (8) For You have put everything in subjection under his feet. Now in putting everything in subjection to man, He left nothing outside [of man’s] control. But at present we do not yet see all things subjected to him [man].

We better get to work and start exercising our GOD given commission of dominion by expressing GOD’s word in our mouth over situations within our sphere of life. God bless you all.

1 thought on “Dominion and Words

  1. 26 To everyone who conquers and continues to do my works to the end, I will give authority over the nations;
27 to rule them with an iron rod, as when clay pots are shattered–
28 even as I also received authority from my Father. To the one who conquers I will also give the morning star.
    (Rev 2:26-28 NRS)

If we win the evils he will give iron rod and we will shatter the evils
    dominion is true
